Grungy Monday 09 Technique, Take 1

The extra day off for Memorial Day this week helped me start on my Grungy Monday 09 project much earlier than normal.  I was so pleased when I saw this week's Tim Holtz tutorial because I had several wooden tags lying around that I had painted black and never did anything with.  Well, now I have the perfect technique!

I did keep playing with this "Shabby Chic" method on different surfaces with different images, so this project actually isn't my challenge submission...you'll see that tomorrow.

This goes pretty fast and yields some pretty cool results.  You can also experiment with both the base and top colors.  I see this one becoming a staple in my mental creative library.  Be sure to check it out for yourself!
