*** Happy Independence Day! ***
Ever have one of those days when everything you touch turns to yuck? That's me today, so after this post, I'm going to go read in the sun and have a cocktail. Maybe put myself down for a nap. Why fight it?...it is a holiday.
The challenge that brought me to my knees today is Studio L3's Grungy Monday 14.
The Details:
- Linda selected a very cool Tim Holtz technique for this week, but I should have known better. I don't own two of the key ingredients...just similar items from other companies. And of the re-inkers I did have, I only have two colors: bright red or black that turns purple. Should have called the game right there, but nooo. I made three tags. Two are in the trash. All things considered, this surviving tag is as good as it's going to get!
- The birds and script are stamped in white paint. I do love how it naturally resists the ink.
- You really can't see the shimmer from the head on shot, but the angled shot below shows it off nicely.
Paper: manila tag
Stamps: TH ‘Life’s Possibilities’; SU! ‘Botanicals’; Inkadinkado
Inks: SU! re-inker ‘Real Red’; DI ‘Old Paper’, ‘Tattered Rose’,’Vintage Photo’; Martha Stewart craft markers; Folk Art acrylic paint ‘Wicker White’
Embellishments: Pearl-Ex powder ‘Red-Blue’; Distress Stickles ‘Walnut Stain’; TH tissue tape ‘Nostalgic’; fibers
Tools: foam ink blending tool, foam applicator; heat tool, mini mister, water
This is a wonderful tag and the colours work really well together. Some times we can be our own worst critic. Honestly this look super ;0)
ReplyDeletelove Dawn xx
I know exactly how you feel about things turning to yuck, but rest assured, your trashed things are better than most people's best. I *know* they'd be better than mine! The finished one looks great. Love the birds.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you used your perseverance. The tag is so pretty. Sometimes when I'm challenged to use other elements than those prescribed - the end result is more satisfying. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAw, Vickie, I'm sorry you've had a yucky day, and I hope it's turned around into something wonderful now! Sun and a cocktail sounds like a good plan.
ReplyDeleteYour tag is just STUNNING-- nothing yucky there at all. It's classy and and sweet and the perfect "shabby chic" look. The resist looks awesome and the colors are lovely. I think Dawn is right in that often we're our own worst critics, so take it from me-- this is wonderful!
I think it's great!
ReplyDeleteyour tag turned out fabby!
ReplyDeleteFrom looking at this, you would never know that you had a problem. It's beautiful! Love the way you used the tissue tape too - very cool idea!
ReplyDeleteThis tag is super and I really love that Poppy stamp.
ReplyDeleteThis tag is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteFabulous tag Vicki, the colors are soft and lovely.
ReplyDeleteWe all have yuk days - part of the journey and learning process. If I have a really bad day I chuck the rejects in the bin and not even the recycling box...cannot bear to see them...I don't have re-inkers either (sigh - add to list) so I mixed a few drops of colour wash, water and PP - and got the same effect.
ReplyDeleteBut I think your tag is really lovely - I mean that. Great to see a different colour pallet. Really great stamping and the tape is wonderful! Onwards and upwards...
The cocktail always help with the yucky days! I would think your tag helped also, because it is truly a stunner! Beautiful GM14 creation!
