Lucky in Love

Remember having to solve puzzles like this in school?
THOUGHT AN
(an after thought)

YAPLAYRD
(play in the yard)

It wasn't intended at the start, but I realized later that today's creation is a bit like these puzzles and equates to:
LOLUCKYVE

So, it started with some digging in the ol' stash pile (that is not getting smaller!) where I found a papier mache heart ornament that's been there a while and some scraps of felt from a project three years ago.

The Details:
  • I used Claudine Hellmuth Studio Matte Multi Medium and torn pieces of Tim Holtz's tissue paper to decoupage the heart.  Once that was dry, I dry-brushed on some Peeled Paint Distress Crackle Paint, making sure to just give it a light coat...I still wanted to see the tissue paper.  Finally, I accented the crackled areas with some Old Paper Distress Ink.
  • To create the shamrock, I stamped three hearts onto green felt using StazOn ink.  I then cut out the hearts and free-hand cut a stem.  These were connected to a scrap piece of felt using Wondertape, then a center "vein" was stitched down the center of each petal.  Peeled Paint Distress Stickles, a button, and some ribbon finish off the shamrock.
  • I distressed the edges of the "Lucky" bingo card, inked them with Old Paper and Peeled Paint, and gave the whole card a coat of Rock Candy Distress Stickles
  • The final steps were quick and easy assembly of the heart, bingo card, and shamrock that was all accomplished with Wondertape, and tying on some lengths of green ribbons...done!
Looks like hearts aren't just for Valentine's Day anymore!
