Challenges Entry: Grungy Monday & Fans

I've got another two-fer challenge submission to share.  The challenges are really sparking my creativity and I thought I'd give Grungy Monday 05: A New Dimension at Studio L3 and GC99: Random Redhead Challenge - Fans at Gingersnap Creations a whirl.

The Grungy Monday challenge was to create a shadowbox of sorts, and for Gingersnap, I just had to include a fan in my piece.  What to do, what to do?  I knew I wanted to combine the two and I played around for a bit and then...EPIPHANY!, because I'm a sassy squirrel, I got a hilarious idea!  (Well, hilarious to me.)  Fans cool you when you're hot, right?  Who is always hot?  Menopausal women!  I know one of those!  (I know, I'll get my comeupance eventually).
(tee-hee-hee!)

The Details:
  • Really, other than the combination of elements and the commentary, not much on this plaque was my idea!
  • For instructions on creating the shadowbox window, check out Tim's tutorial HERE
  • For instructions on creating the folded fan, visit Juliet's tutorial HERE.
  • The bathing beauty image can be found HERE at the Graphics Fairy.
  • The rest was just playing with TH tissue tape, Distress Inks, layering stamped images, and foam tape.
  • The finished plaque measures 5-1/2 x 8".
Supplies:
Paper:  K&Co double-sided pattern paper (folded fan); white CS; manila folder; unknown pattern paper (backgrounds); SU! ‘Pale Plum’ CS (stamped fan)
Images:  Graphics Fairy ‘Bathing Beauties’
Stamps:  My Mind’s Eye ‘Pretty’; Chatterbox ‘Eclectique’; Inkadinkado ‘Garden Delight’; SU! ‘Itty Bitty Backgrounds’
Inks:  Distress Inks ‘Tea Dye’, ‘Tattered Rose’, ‘Crushed Olive’, ‘Barn Door’, ‘Broken China’; SU! Classic ‘Eggplant Envy’; Encore Ultimate Metallic ‘Gold’
Embellishments:  TH tissue tape ‘Symphony’; TH button
Tools:  foam tape; scallop decorative scissors; bone folder; emery board; glue dots; Exacto knife; metal ruler; stylus; Tombo Monoadhesive; 3M Super 77 spray adhesive; foam ink blending tool; circle punch (I used 1-7/8”dia.)

  16. This is hysterical! It's also the first time I've seen the fan on something other than an oriental themed pice. If you don't mind, I will link to it from my site.
